Breakfast menu gave plenty to eat and cooked to order. Breakfast rooms are small but had sufficient room. Room was airy and well designed. Bed was very comfortable and walk-in... read more shower was excellent. This was the 'best' room in the hotel. Staff were friendly.
Car park was too small for all those who wanted to park. Narrow area to move in and out of. Plenty of parking on the streets but could imagine very difficult to do so during high season.
We have returned from our second relaxing stay at the “Sunningdale “ . Warm welcome, warm comfortable rooms, excellent food and very friendly staff throughout. A good selection of... read more happy guests and very well behaved dogs all enjoying themselves. Can’t wait to get back in January. Well done and many thanks to all the staff.
Very well run, excellent staff, good facilities in the room.

We had booked three nights at the Sunningdale last January as our base for a tour of northern part of Northumberland. It was only two weeks before departure that... read more we had the good news that the hotel had reopened.
No issues with sanitizing, cleaning , social distance etc and felt as relaxed as we could possibly be.
The first thing to impress us was the friendliness of all staff who come across as a happy team. The room was in excellent condition and was very quiet despite being next to narrow road.
Two sitting for breakfast so that residents could be kept safe. A good selection available and arrives freshly cooked. At present restaurant only open over weekends which is a shame as we were only able to dine on the Friday evening. The food was superb and superior to some of the local restaurants in the area. Must also applaud the hotel for being realistic with the quality of wine served and price- the previous evening we had an inferior wine at another restaurant and were charged far more.
Parking is available at the side of the hotel, although tight access.
Can highly recommend this friendly hotel if you want to shake off the lock down blues in stunning Northumberland. So much to see and do but make sure you take a trip with Serenity boats to the Farne Islands and see wildlife close up.
What a brilliant place to stay. Extremely clean and comfortable room. All staff were polite friendly and very helpful. Fantastic choices for breakfast and evening menu made... read more us spoilt for choice. Food was plentiful delicious and good value for money. The two of us... read more and our dog were welcomed and we immediately decided after being taken to our room that we'd stay for longer than we initially intended.
Things were very difficult for the residents and businesses in Bamburgh with damage to trees and buildings having occurred the day before. Electricity had been lost but the Sunningdale had been very busy before we arrived because they had a generator. This did not prevent us from receiving great customer service, lovely food and a friendly welcome.
There's a good restaurant area with a cosy woodburner and also an adjacent bar area where you can eat with your dog by your side.
The room was comfortable and very clean with a view over the rooftops to the castle and the sea.
It's just a short walk from the hotel to the rest of the amenities of Bamburgh and to the fabulous beach.
The breakfast choices were extremely good and of high quality. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. More
It`s a lovely hotel, all the staff without exception were excellent. Our room was at the rear of the hotel with views across the fields towards Seahouses in... read more the distance. Room was very clean and had plenty of space for our needs with a couple of comfy armchairs.
Breakfast was also excellent with plenty of choices including both continental and full English or variations of it.

My wife and myself have just returned from our second stay within the last 4 months.
The location is fantastic being just a short walk to the castle and beach... read more passing several welcoming pubs and restaurants along the way.
The hotel is very clean and the staff are super friendly and very welcoming.

The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and all served by wonderful staff.
The restaurant at night, not always open so best to check, was once again very good and reasonably priced.

Great location in centre of Bamburgh
Staff are very friendly... read more and accommodating
Great view of castle
Food is excellent. Delicious breakfast and I had an evening meal which was excellent
Excellent tea and coffee facilities in the room
Cons
Internet reception was poor. I couldn't access the Net at all using the hotel's WiFi
My TV reception was poor with no BBC channels in my room.
Parking is available but limited. You may find you have to park in the village which isn't ideal when you are transporting luggage.
Room is cosy but I found it a bit airless and hard to sleep at night (maybe upgrade to get air con if it's available)
I enjoyed my stay and would definitely go again but only for a few nights. More
Location was so near to the castle, room had just been redecorated and recarpeted, and the colour scheme was lovely. The bathroom was fairly large and eveything so clean... read more and fresh.
The staff were lovely, could not fault anything and was very reasonably priced for the superb quality of breakfast which was also included.
Felt very safe in this current climate. Would not hesitate to stay here again if we came back to Bamburgh, we were very lucky to find this hotel.
Twin Room 9 on first floor...clean and nicely decorated but very small with tiny cupboard for hanging clothes. limited drawer space. Nowhere to put bags or holdalls without restricting access... read more around beds. This room had just one solid wall, the rest were hollow stud walls with little or no noise insulatation between the battens. Stud walling adjoined room 8 next door and the main stairs of the hotel. From inside the room it sounded like a herd of wilderbeast galloping across the plains when anyone went up or down the main stairs. When room 8 shut their door (no outer handles) the wall behind our headboard shook. We could hear their conversation thru the wall as they could hear ours. The beds were fabulous and I slept like a log once I had put my ear plugs in. For some reason the hotel had provided very large, very bright and no doubt expensive bed side lamps that took up half the bedside cabinet top and were out of proportion to the room size and furniture. The TV could not show any of the ITV or C4 channels because the digital signal to the TV was so poor on the ITV duplex. We were stuck with BBC1, 2 and a shopping channel. The window curtains were heavy and good quality but for some reason came right down onto the floor by several inches and when drawn covered the radiator preventing any... Putting aside the room, the staff were very pleasant, the breakfast was excellent and evening meal we had from the menu was very good. Hotel Parking is limited and street parking can be difficult as Bamburgh Castle etc is so popular. I would stay at the Sunningdale again but ony if I could get a much better room. More
Just back for a two night stay at The Sunningdale, would highly recommend it. Staff were really friendly, we had a good room, breakfasts were great and we ate there... read more one night, that meal was excellent.
