Our... read more room was room 8 overlooking the front and it was really nice. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishing and decor with soft grey and cream tones made the room bright and airy. Even though we overlooked the front street there was no problem with traffic noise. Breakfast was very enjoyable. There is a good continental section and our cooked breakfast was lovely. Even though the dining room was busy the service was swift and efficient. All of the staff were friendly including the owner who checked us in and the staff who served our breakfast. The hotel is dog friendly and although we don't own our own dog it didn't bother us at all. It was our first visit but will definitely return.

The room was quite small but not cramped, it was really well furnished, spotlessly clean, warm and quiet. There was a nice selection of complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and water and a lovely big TV. The shower controls were a little tricky but once you've worked them out it's a good shower. Breakfast was very pleasant as well, in the comfortable lounge. I thought the cost of the room was a little expensive but then again there were no other comparable rooms available in the town that night..... We would definitely go back if we were staying in the area.

No issues with sanitizing, cleaning , social distance etc and felt as relaxed as we could possibly be.

The first thing to impress us was the friendliness of all staff who come across as a happy team. The room was in excellent condition and was very quiet despite being next to narrow road.

Two sitting for breakfast so that residents could be kept safe. A good selection available and arrives freshly cooked. At present restaurant only open over weekends which is a shame as we were only able to dine on the Friday evening. The food was superb and superior to some of the local restaurants in the area. Must also applaud the hotel for being realistic with the quality of wine served and price- the previous evening we had an inferior wine at another restaurant and were charged far more.

Parking is available at the side of the hotel, although tight access.

Can highly recommend this friendly hotel if you want to shake off the lock down blues in stunning Northumberland. So much to see and do but make sure you take a trip with Serenity boats to the Farne Islands and see wildlife close up.

Hmmm? We were perplexed as to why the receptionist told us at check-in, that she would of liked to upgrade us as we were staying for 4 nights but couldn’t due to the hotel being full. Not a problem we thought and then we saw our double room. We have stayed in larger cabins on the cheap cruises. I could very nearly touch both walls with my hands and toes. Guessing this was a frequent criticism, hence her comment? Bed was comfy but pillows were terribly flat, so didn’t sleep well. We booked the double room, so it was our fault for not noticing, but I’ve never stayed in a room that small before. The other big negative was the parking. Rooms aren’t being serviced whilst Covid is around, but they will leave tea/coffee/milk sachets and change towels if you ask.

Bamburgh is a lovely place and the hotel is well located so if you are happy with a “cosy” room and vulnerable parking then by all means give this place a go.
It just lacked the features that were important to us, so we would stay elsewhere next time. More

Staff were hard to find. We waited and rang the bell for bar service on Tuesday, but no one responded. We went to The Victoria for a nice drink instead. I wish we had booked there instead.
If you are visiting Bamburgh, stay in a lodge in Newcastle and hire a helicopter. It may be more economical.
When leaving I was asked if I enjoyed the stay. I replied that I wished she hadn’t asked that question. The response was that she said nothing and processed the payment
My final concern was the unrestricted window which opened to full capacity. Health and safety lacking here. More

Although we had been told the rooms would not be available till 3, it was just after 12, there was a strong wind blowing and it was bitterly cold and I felt very unwell. My partner rang the bell to see if we could sit in the hotel lounge. We were told we could not, it was Sunday and they had experienced a very busy weekend, we could return to our car and sit there for 3 hours, we were really taken aback, we are both senior citizens recovering from a serious illness and just wanted to sit somewhere warm, if we had not been meeting friends we would have looked for somewhere else to stay. At 2:30 my partner returned to request we be let in, a different very pleasant lady was very understanding and hospitable and allowed us in and as our room was available she took us there. On the whole the staff in the hotel were professional courteous and excellent in meeting our needs. The second lady who greeted us realised I had obvious mobility issues and provided us with a room on the first floor, she was so friendly and supportive. The room we had was a family room,... The room we had was a family room, fairly comfortable, although the beds had seen better days, we were advised rooms were not serviced unless it was requested, but if we we needed anything to just ask. Our friends had been allocated a small twin room with poor storage and very little space.
Room temperature was a problem, it was either very hot or very cold particularly in the afternoons, no heated towel rails.
Meals in the hotel restaurant were very well cooked and well presented, if anything portions were over generous and although I requested small portions I received large portions. Service was prompt, friendly and courteous.

On the whole facilities in the hotel were OK, having to ask for rooms to be serviced combined with the heating issues were alien to our notion of good client care, The staff were exemplary and the food good, our initial meeting with perhaps the owner?, the manager?, we were not introduced, was way below our expectations and experience, so for our stay we believe a description of poor to average to be fair and appropriate.
