It was a big bonus for us that this hotel was dog friendly.

We ate in the hotels restaurant on two occasions and both times the meals were excellent and great value for money, many guests seem to be repeat visitors which isn’t surprising and we certainly wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

It’s a beautiful little hotel and perfectly situated for Bamburgh and the beach. Our room was on the ground floor and was really spacious. We slept well both nights as the bed was super comfy and it was just so quiet. Breakfast was amazing and great service. We had drinks in the bar area last night and the food that we saw served looked amazing so when we return we will definitely eat. Can understand now having stayed why we have struggled to get booked in previously as it’s clearly popular. Great to be able to stay somewhere so lovely with our dog and be so welcomed. More

Only issue was access to the parking, ended up parking further up the road, as there were no spaces in the car park.

Our... read more room was room 8 overlooking the front and it was really nice. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishing and decor with soft grey and cream tones made the room bright and airy. Even though we overlooked the front street there was no problem with traffic noise. Breakfast was very enjoyable. There is a good continental section and our cooked breakfast was lovely. Even though the dining room was busy the service was swift and efficient. All of the staff were friendly including the owner who checked us in and the staff who served our breakfast. The hotel is dog friendly and although we don't own our own dog it didn't bother us at all. It was our first visit but will definitely return.

Honestly from day one to end of stay we can't fault it
We had room 17 small double room with super views of castle and coast
Room was very cosy warm and had all we needed
Max has never been to a hotel with us before and he settled in really well
All the staff were making a fuss of him as he was welcome in bar and ding area
Breakfasts were excellent and plentiful
Inc a sausage for Max
We had two evening meals both were big portions great quality and served hot
Bar was bottled beers lagers etc at good prices
The hotel sits at the top of the square handy for all of the other pubs etc
And 5 mins walk to beach
Car park is tight but still plenty of street parking so no worries

  We had booked three nights at the Sunningdale last January as our base for a tour of northern part of Northumberland. It was only two weeks before departure that... read more we had the good news that the hotel had reopened.

No issues with sanitizing, cleaning , social distance etc and felt as relaxed as we could possibly be.

The first thing to impress us was the friendliness of all staff who come across as a happy team. The room was in excellent condition and was very quiet despite being next to narrow road.

Two sitting for breakfast so that residents could be kept safe. A good selection available and arrives freshly cooked. At present restaurant only open over weekends which is a shame as we were only able to dine on the Friday evening. The food was superb and superior to some of the local restaurants in the area. Must also applaud the hotel for being realistic with the quality of wine served and price- the previous evening we had an inferior wine at another restaurant and were charged far more.

Parking is available at the side of the hotel, although tight access.

Can highly recommend this friendly hotel if you want to shake off the lock down blues in stunning Northumberland. So much to see and do but make sure you take a trip with Serenity boats to the Farne Islands and see wildlife close up. More

The hotel is in a fantastic location with free on site parking, staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Everywhere was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. COVID restrictions were in place and working well. Only suggestion for improvement would be some updating of bathrooms, but overall an excellent stay at a reasonable price - thank you.
