The hotel is in a fantastic location with free on site parking, staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Everywhere was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. COVID restrictions were in place and working well. Only suggestion for improvement would be some updating of bathrooms, but overall an excellent stay at a reasonable price - thank you.

Breakfast and evening meal was excellent. Much better than the pubs in the village and was on the eat out government discount scheme. Needed a bigger table at breakfast because... read more there was so much food brought out. Staff were friendly too, if a little deceiving at times (one minute there was “no brown sauce left at all” and the next minute, voila!, brown sauce for a different table) plus the “wifi must have gone off” when the penultimate couple had left the bar at 9:30pm, so sitting there without the Sonos playing music meant for an early night for us (and the barmaid). Hmmm? We were perplexed as to why the receptionist told us at check-in, that she would of liked to upgrade us as we were staying for 4 nights but couldn’t due to the hotel being full. Not a problem we thought and then we saw our double room. We have stayed in larger cabins on the cheap cruises. I could very nearly touch both walls with my hands and toes. Guessing this was a frequent criticism, hence her comment? Bed was comfy but pillows were terribly flat, so didn’t sleep well. Oh and shower lost pressure at times. Not enough to be an issue but was irritating.
Rooms aren’t being serviced whilst Covid is around, but they will leave tea/coffee/milk sachets and change towels if you ask.
Bamburgh is a lovely place and the hotel is well located so if you are happy with a “cosy” room and vulnerable parking then by all means give this place a go.
It just lacked the features that were important to us, so we would stay elsewhere next time. More

I also had my evening meal there both nights, gammon one night and lasagne the next. Again, very well cooked and presented, and good portion sizes. I must mention the staff who were all very friendly and welcoming. As others have mentioned, great location, 5 minutes to the castle and beach, have a walk along the beach to sea houses, it’s a great walk. I would stay at the sunnigdale again without hesitation.
