The hotel is located on one of the main roads into Bamburgh. We stayed in Room 8 at the front of the hotel with views over the village. Room was well appointed with comfy bed large TV, tea and coffee, hairdryer. The ensuite was nice but a little tired and the taps had the habit of emitting a random whistle.
We ate in the restaurant on three evenings. Menu had a good list of options and a selection of specials each night. Quality of food was excellent and portions were generous so much so that most of the group only opted for one course on the second night. service was friendly but could be a little haphazard. One night ee ordered beers to go with our curry and had to remind the waitress several times ...they finally arrived after we had finished eating.
The only other downside is the car park. There is a small car park at the side of the hotel but this is awkward to access with only room for about 5 cars. There is free on street parking around the village but this fills up rapidly during the day so you may be parking some distance away.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel

Things were very difficult for the residents and businesses in Bamburgh with damage to trees and buildings having occurred the day before. Electricity had been lost but the Sunningdale had been very busy before we arrived because they had a generator. This did not prevent us from receiving great customer service, lovely food and a friendly welcome.
There's a good restaurant area with a cosy woodburner and also an adjacent bar area where you can eat with your dog by your side.
The room was comfortable and very clean with a view over the rooftops to the castle and the sea.
It's just a short walk from the hotel to the rest of the amenities of Bamburgh and to the fabulous beach.
The breakfast choices were extremely good and of high quality. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. More
